After reading the recent announcement regarding the changing of the naming system for selected roads in NSW, you can forgive the well meant intentions of our government to make things "easier" for driver to be aware what road they are travelling on.

Duncan Gay New Title to be announced, I assume. |
Unfortunately the amps up to an audible chuckle starts when reports state "Gay says the system is used widely around the world. He says the change will make it easier for motorists to know if they are travelling on a motorway or a route of national or state significance as they plan their trip." It's always my main concern when heading on a road trip, the national or state importance on the road I am driving on.
Issues like safety and road condition are not at the as important. Luckily I have heard it will only cost about 20 million tax dollars.
Earlier this year Roads Minister Duncan Gay, announced the " New South Wales Roads and Traffic Authority is to be abolished." The RTA will be "absorbed" into Transport for NSW along with NSW Maritime, the Transport Construction Authority and the Country Rail Infrastructure Authority. But... the 'front-line' service will be handled by the same staff locations etc just named Roads and Maritime Services.
This must be a recipe for success considering the triumphant and expensive exercises with previous name changes, Dept of Main Roads and Motor Transport and the Traffic Authority.
After all, we have A grade quality roads in metro and country areas. Little to no congestion for peak hour commuters and by reusing failed methods to create new entities to disguise failures in top to bottom management and systematization of our 'transport services' it seems we would be better off giving the job to McDonald's to manage...
They did put the "Happy" into a Meal
